Resting in Mystery

Today marks day 21 of Advent, which means it’s our third Sabbath. Once again we turn to the brilliance of Abraham Joshua Heschel.

“The meaning of the Sabbath is to celebrate time rather than space. Six days a week we live under the tyranny of things of space; on the Sabbath we try to become attuned to holiness in time. It is a day on which we are called upon to share in what is eternal in time, to turn from the results of creation to the mystery of creation; from the world of creation to the creation of the world.”

Today, I confess the idol of endless productivity and chasing the sin of certainty.

Today, I will go for a walk in creation as an act of repentance from trying to run creation.

May you find rest for a weary soul. And may you pause from trying to do all the things, to get lost in knowing the Maker of everything.

Grace and Peace for you, today.
